Waverley Hills SMV 2015
Waverley Hills is best known for producing organic wines with a unique style; extremely smooth with soft ripe tannins and robust fynbos (garrigue) characteristic. The estate is situated between Tulbagh and Ceres at the foothills of the breath-taking Witzenberg Mountain Range. The Waverley Hills SMV 2015 is a blend. The Shiraz component provides typical red fruit and spicy flavours, with the Mourvèdre providing berry and fresh herbal aromas and the Viognier complementing the overall aromatic sensation and softness to accompany the wood.
Garnet-tinged mid ruby; aromas of Christmas cake, red & black berries and a hint of leather. Nicely matured, oak subtle and integrated with black cherry, liquorice and the freshness of cranberry. A poised, stylish red wine.
A good meaty Greek moussaka, or garlic and rosemary-scented roast leg of Karroo lamb, or Parmesan-crusted lamb cutlets.
