Benguela Cove Wine Estate is a specialist producer and wine destination located at the start of the Walker Bay wine region between Cape Town and Hermanus. As an ode to the New World, the Benguela Cove Estate Syrah 2020 is a fruit-forward Syrah that aims to please those in search of wine with great concentration. With enough restraint, freshness, and bold tannin, this wine will certainly age well, although you might be tempted to drink it straight away. There is nothing shy about it as one is met with an abundant display of violet, plum, and blueberry followed by nuances of leather, tobacco leaf and cumin spice as it opens up over time in the glass. As expressive and aromatic as it is, a twist awaits on the palate with a more smokey, savoury character and mouth-filling intensity. Well-chiselled tannin and an assertive acidity concludes with notes of dark chocolate.
