Wheat Whiskey

Wheat Whiskey

One of the smaller American whiskey categories, wheat whiskey – as the name suggests – has a mash bill consisting of 51% wheat. If it’s aged for two years in new charred, oak barrels, it may be called straight wheat whisky – a popular example of this is Kentucky’s Bernheim Original. Much wheat whiskey is small batch and has a sweet and mellow character. Another country doing great things with wheat whiskey is Germany.
