For many wine drinkers, what goes into the wine (over and above the grapes!) is vitally important. This has led to a real increase in the sale and production of organic wine. In South Africa, this means wine that has been made with organically produced grapes – so it’s more about what happens in the vineyard than the bottle. The farming process rejects the use of herbicides, pesticides and fertilisers, and views the vineyard as a living ecological system.
