Maurice Boon Musgrave, grandfather of founder Simone Musgrave, left Plymouth in 1949 bound for Africa to start a new life exploring and discovering the people and land of Africa. Three months on a ship with a small baby, measles and many a day of seasickness and the adventure that would change the shape of his family had begun. From then onward an African family would take on the adventure Maurice had started. The spirit of endevour, adventure and courage lives on in granddaughter, Simone, guardian of Maurice's passion for the unusual.
Musgrave Gin is no ordinary spirit - it is an artisan gin celebrated for its top notes of Cardamom, African Ginger and Grains of Paradise.
Musgrave Gin is born out of the flavours and history of Africa and its ancient spice route. Musgrave Premium is no ordinary gin and its top notes of aromatic Cardamom, African Ginger (Whitei Mondei) and Grains of Paradise are reminiscent of the perfume of spice markets. Cardamom, part of the ginger family is fragrant and spicy with a strong flavour and perfume and is used in North Africa to flavour tea and meat dishes. Whitei Mondei or African Ginger is a truly magical African herb. The roots are aromatic and taste like ginger or liquorice and have an aroma of vanilla. Mondei has for a long time been extensively and widely used in traditional medicine as an antacid and as a boosting tonic. Some sources indicate that the plant is further used as a symbol of peace and a sign of power. Grains of Paradise, native to Africa are worth a couple of minutes' meditation. The aroma is woody and forest-like and the flavour is an inviting, peppery warmth without the harshness of black pepper. The woody character gives way to cloves, cinnamon and a faint hint of cardamom and leaves you with a gentle flame. Musgrave Gin top notes are all linked by family of Africa or a family of flavours as is the Musgrave history

We deliver between 09h00 and 17h00 on business days (i.e. Monday to Friday, excluding South African public holidays).
*Regional areas: 50-100km outside of CPT, JHB, PTA and DBN.
**Remote areas: Areas in South Africa other than the main centres and regional areas. 100km+ outside of CPT, JHB, PTA and DBN
For specially sourced products that are unavailable for prompt delivery, delivery may take an additional 10-21 days. Should this apply to a product you have ordered, we will notify you via email .

We will liaise directly with you to confirm the delivery date and costs of international shipment.
Tracking your order
We offer over 7000 products and, as is the nature with an online business, orders occur throughout the day and night. As a result, occasionally there will be instances where we cannot deliver the product you ordered.
If this happens, our customer service team will be in touch and recommend a comparable item or offer you a full refund.
If there will be a significant delay in the delivery of on one or more of the products in your order, we will ship the in-stock products to you separately, in a split delivery. You will receive an email notifying you of the partial delivery.

We understand the importance of on-time deliveries, and we will try our utmost to manage any special delivery requests.
Orders which you cancel will be refunded less a deduction of 10% of the order value for administration costs.
Bottleshop reserves the right to cancel an order for which payment has been received. This may occur if stock is insufficient or the quality of the products ordered does not meet our standards. Should we exercise this right, you will receive a full refund with no deductions.
Returns and refund policy
Bottleshop accepts returns on an expired or damaged product only where such expiration or damage occurred before you accepted the product from the courier. Please therefore check your product carefully before signing for it.
Where you do not sign for a product because it is damaged or, where relevant, past its expiration date, you must notify us within 24 hours of delivery. We will then arrange to have the product collected. Please ensure that you receive confirmation that your communication to Bottleshop was received within 1 day, to ensure the 24-hour return period is not exceeded .
If you notify us of damage or expiration after the 24-hour period, the product must be sent to us at your cost.
Where the return is accepted by Bottleshop, the refund will be processed via the initial payment method (i.e. return EFT to the same bank account or return payment to the same credit card used for your purchase).
Please note that all returned products must be returned in their original packaging and in the same condition as you received them.
Wine Sold By Vintage
Please note that we do not sell any of our wines by vintage unless stated clearly in the product description and product title. Images of wines are for illustration purposes only. We will not accept any returns or refunds should you have bought wine by picture vintage description.

So, while we always retain an inventory of our highly demanded products, we don’t have stock of each of our products on offer at all times. Instead, we rely on our excellent relationships, forged over many years, with our quality producers and suppliers to enable expedited delivery of your selected product
In those rare instances where we can’t source and deliver the product you have ordered within the time you want, we will recommend a comparable item or offer you a full refund.
