Famed for its apples, the Elgin region just on the other side of Sir Lowry’s Pass also produces wine – and wonderful, award-winning wine at that! This is the coolest climate wine region in South Africa, where the grapes take longer to ripen on the vine; as a result, it’s a great place to grow Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Shiraz.
